The Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) and the World Bank stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Tanzania as it strives to build a more resilient future. Spanning over a decade, GFDRR’s longstanding partnership with Tanzania has made progress in deepening the country’s understanding of disaster risk in cities, enabling better strategic planning to reduce that risk, driving and informing transformative investments for urban resilience, and strengthening policy and institutional frameworks for disaster risk management (DRM), among other milestones.

It is in that spirit that GFDRR is hosting GFDRR Partnership Days in Tanzania from June 24–27, 2025. This event will bring together government officials, GFDRR members, observers, partners, and World Bank staff to exchange insights and lessons that can inform resilience-building in Tanzania and beyond.
