Building resilience in countries eligible for resources from the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) is at the heart of the Bank’s mission to create a world free of poverty. Resilience is not just about recovery—it is about building infrastructure that functions and creating systems that endure and thrive in the face of adversity. The World Bank Group, as a knowledge partner, plays a pivotal role in enabling countries to build resilience, offering data, insights, and technical expertise to address challenges like climate change, economic shocks, and social vulnerabilities. The Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) exemplifies this commitment, providing critical knowledge and resources to mitigate disaster risks. The stories below capture results and lessons learned from GFDRR-funded technical assistance which is enabling nearly 20 countries across six regions to build resilience with IDA financing.
