In an era of overlapping shocks and stresses, building resilience is no longer optional: it is essential for sustaining development gains, protecting lives, and safeguarding livelihoods. The Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) works in close partnership with the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) to advance resilience at scale across the globe. By connecting the facility's wealth of knowledge and analytics to IDA's development financing, GFDRR helps countries anticipate risks, strengthen institutions, and implement interventions for resilience. The stories below capture results and lessons learned from nearly 20 countries across six regions which are eligible to receive resources from IDA.
