Countries

South Asia is prone to a range of seismic and hydromet hazards. Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka are in the top 10 vulnerable countries to climate change. The impacts of disasters are amplified by the region’s rapidly growing cities, but progress is being made as countries and communities continue to invest in pre-disaster planning. GFDRR, for its part, is providing technical assistance to modernize hydromet systems, develop urban disaster risk management plans, plan and implement resilient reconstruction, support recovery planning, and introduce adaptive social protection solutions.
