The risk profile provides an estimation of the potential economic losses to property caused by adverse natural hazards. This profile finds that in the Dominican Republic, risks are higher for tropical cyclones than for earthquakes. Flood risks are lower although significant. Annual Average Losses (AAL) are US$ 676M for tropical cyclones (0.6% of GDP), US$ 467M for earthquakes (0.4% of GDP), and US$ 259M for floods (0.2% of GDP).
