Urban flooding is a serious and growing development challenge.
The objective of this grant is to provide ways and means to deal effectively with possible flooding in
urban areas (in India).
As a first step in urban flood risk management, policy makers need to understand the flood hazard that can
affect the urban environment. This project is designed to support policy makers in India to understand how
floods affect urban populations, develop catalogue of solutions for urban flood management for cities,
build their capacity on best practices related to urban flood risk management, and finally will help in
development of conceptual framework for investment funding mechanisms and institutional set-up options for a
National Urban Flood Resilience Program.
