The overall objective is to inform governments in the LAC region about how to systematically strengthen and adapt social protection systems to better respond to disasters and shocks. The
objectives are two-fold: i) to carry-out analytical work that will inform
a shift towards Adaptive Social Protection (ASP) systems in LAC, and ii) to
support just-in-time advice to quickly advance policy dialogue that would
support reforms towards shock-responsive social protection, particularly in the
countries that have an active engagement through Development Policy Credits
(DPCs) or DPCs with a Catastrophe Deferred Drawdown Option (Cat DDO) and/or
other Disaster Risk Management (DRM)/SP projects under implementation or
preparation. Main outputs include at least 10 country-level assessments and regional synthesis reports. The expected outcomes would be knowledge deepened and ASP/DRM policy/strategy informed
based on the findings from the grant supported activities.
