Building codes and land use planning have proven to be the most effective tools for improving health and safety in cities and reducing disaster risk. With rapid urbanization and climate change exacerbating disaster risk in cities around the world, a new World Bank/GFDRR program - Building Regulation for Resilience - aims to improve effective building regulation implementation and compliance in vulnerable countries.
