The 11th Consultative Group (CG) meeting of the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) Co-Chaired by the World Bank and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) will be held on November 17 and 18, 2011 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Disaster risk management is a priority on the global agenda, as reflected in GFDRR’s expansion to 45 partners. As a result of your continued support this will be our largest meeting yet. The 11th CG will help GFDRR refine its results management system as well as communicate more effectively the positive impact made possible by your continued assistance. Moreover, the secretariat will be looking for your views in shaping important strategic objectives such as international coordination, engagement at the local level and with civil society organizations, as well as with the climate change adaptation agenda.

A Policy Forum will take place on Monday November 14th & Tuesday November 15th to examine and discuss best practices in local risk governance and identify areas to scale up community action and increase engagement.

For further information on all the week's events please have a look at the preliminary agenda.

There will also be an opportunity for all participants to the CG to take part in a field trip to Yogyakarta/Merapi on Wednesday, November 16th, 2011, visiting community based reconstruction projects. For more information about this opportunity to see the impact of GFDRR’s work firsthand please see the overview note and indicate on your registration if you would like to join us.
