The objectives are to:i. Build a rigorous empirical understanding of the impacts of extreme heat (including both average increases in temperature and extreme heat events) induced by both climate change and urban heat island effects on key urban development outcomes relating to prosperity, inclusiveness, and the livability of cities in the East Asia region (excluding high-income countries);ii. Based on this, inform city-level strategies for both mitigating and adapting to the impacts of extreme heat, and ensuring preparedness for extreme heat events.
