The objective of the project is to support the
Government of Uganda in improving its disaster risk management governance and
building regulatory capacity. 1) The grant provides technical advisory support to improve disaster risk management governance. Activities included support for the preparation of the DRM bill, providing technical inputs into the comprehensive national DRM plan, and assessing the emergency preparedness and response framework and providing recommendations. Outputs include policy/guidance notes with recommendations on DRM governance improvements, and meetings/workshops on DRM governance improvements. 2) The grant provides technical advisory support to improve building regulatory capacity. Depending on the progress of the reforms the Government of Uganda and the NBRB, activities include review and technical advisory support to updating Uganda’s building code, guidance materials to support building professionals and regulators to interpret and implement the building code, and e-permitting system, process, and design. Outputs include recommendation report on improvements in
building regulatory capacity, and meetings/workshops on building regulatory
capacity improvements.
