This event spotlighted the evidence base for disaster risk finance in developing countries, launching the findings of a three-year research project implemented by the Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance Program (DRFIP), a joint initiative of GFDRR and the World Bank Group’s Finance and Markets Global Practice.

This Knowledge Partnership Day organized by the current Co-Chair of the Consultative Group of GFDRR, Germany, brought together experts to showcase innovative approaches toward strengthening climate and disaster resilience.
From developing and adopting national policies on disaster risk management (DRM) and setting new institutions, to initiating risk assessments and finding innovative ways to finance disaster preparedness— Sub-Saharan African countries have exhibited effective leadership and commitment to the global DRM agenda. This session explored the success achieved and lessons learned thus far.
This round of the Resilience Dialogue explored how to scale up and sustain funding and implementation of disaster and climate risk programs to advance post-2015 resilience goals.
