The City Resilience Program is pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with the Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale and the Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo, to strengthen urban resilience in West Africa.
A key aspect of this partnership will be to enhance the role of the private sector in scaling innovative, data-driven approaches, with the ultimate goal of improving urban development and supporting urban technical cooperation in the region.
Over the next two years, this partnership will focus on:
1. Advancing the capacity of West African cities to address, plan, and prioritize policy and infrastructure investments for urban resilience.
2. Accelerating private sector engagement in urban resilience projects and climate-smart infrastructure.
3. Mobilizing resources from multilateral development banks, bilateral donors, and private capital to amplify impact and scale solutions.
This initiative aligns with Italy’s Mattei Plan, aiming to create jobs and build resilient infrastructure in Africa through close cooperation with Italian institutions.
Together, we are working to accelerate practical solutions that help West African cities adapt to climate change -- while protecting their most vulnerable communities.
