The Disaster Risk Management, Sustainability and Urban Practice (DiMSUR) is an innovative sub-regional centre for disaster risk management, sustainability and urban resilience in Southern Africa. DiMSUR provides technical assistance and promotes the dissemination of knowledge and good practices for its member countries Comoros, Madagascar, Malawi and Mozambique. It does so in alignment with the Sendai Framework for DRR, the AUC, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC), to reduce the vulnerability and build the resilience of communities to natural and other hazards.
The establishment of DiMSUR was co-funded by the ACP-EU NDRR Program, was facilitated by the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), in cooperation with UNISDR, with the support of the European Commission Directorate-General Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO).
