The grant objective is to strengthen the Government of Djibouti's ability to respond to natural disasters and weather-related incidents as well as minimize their ensuing economic impact. This objective will be achieved through the: 1) development of an institutional framework for national disaster response; 2) development of disaster communication guidelines; 3) organization of learning exchanges with key officials in appropriate countries; and 4) analytical support on the options for disaster risk financing. These components will collectively strengthen Djibouti's national disaster risk governance, improve the public's understanding of disaster risk and what needs to be done in the event of a disaster, expose key officials to a wide range of global best practices as well as provide advisory support for creating a disaster response fund.
