The objective of the
proposed activities is three-fold: To support the federal government of
Pakistan and participating local governments in enhancing fiscal and
infrastructure resilience against natural disasters and public health emergencies,
by: (i) improving the effectiveness of building code design and implementation
mechanisms, and developing a prioritized mitigation investment plan for
selected hotspots with high seismic risk; (ii) supporting the
Government to put in place a long-term and comprehensive
agenda to build the fiscal resilience of the province to shocks arising from
natural disasters and climate impacts, and; (iii) supporting the federal and
provincial governments on improved data and risk communications to respond to
the health emergency related COVID-19 situation.
