The objective of the project is to support the Government of the Kyrgyz
Republic in improving its capacities on risk identification, financial
protection, and emergency preparedness and response. This objective will be
achieved through conducting analytical work, capacity building and
knowledge exchange, primarily through training and capacity building of the Hazard Monitoring and Forecasting Department under the Ministry of Emergency Situation support on using, storing and managing the data on landslides; and support
improvement of the mandatory disaster insurance program through analytical work and capacity building; and enhance
the government’s capacities on emergency response operations and on planning
awareness-raising programs and activities on DRM for decision-makers and the
public.

This project is to complement and support ongoing efforts in disaster risk management
of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the World Bank, working in close
cooperation with other development partners and donors.
