The objectives are to (i) develop the analytical basis to support relevant government ministries in strengthening the resilience of existing and planned school and other public facilities
across selected Pacific Island Countries and (ii) Support the development of Tuvalu's first National Building Code (NBC) and Regulations. In Tonga, and additional objective is to support the establishment of a housing conditions baseline assessment that will help the Government to better understand the vulnerability of the country's housing stock and develop recommendations to reducing risk through its housing post-disaster recovery and ex-ante resilience-building programs.The TA has effectively supported the development of tools, analytics and an evidence base to inform strategic risk reduction/resilience interventions and investment planning for schools and health facilities throughout Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu and Tuvalu.
