The objective
is to advance gender-equality considerations and universal access for people
with disabilities requirements in school WASH facilities in Pacific Island
Countries.
The technical
assistance will do so by conducting a gender and WASH analysis for school retrofit,
reconstruction and repair activities financed by the Pacific Resilience Project
(PREP Tonga: P154840). The grant is further mobilizing additional
technical support in Tonga, in response to Tropical Cyclone Gita (2018), to
ensure gender and disability considerations are also accounted for in the resilient
recovery of schools and select public assets. It will also support a similar analysis and study in Vanuatu to inform decision-making and potential investment options for school reconstruction and retrofitting.
