The project objective is to (i) provide technical assistance to local and national
Government partners to assess the August 2020 flood impact in Douala, Cameroon, and to improve the understanding of risk; (ii) further ongoing capacity building in the Government’s use of low-cost,
collaborative, and open data collection approaches for Disaster Risk Management
(DRM); (iii) use the results obtained during the previous TA for the definition of flood
danger maps for the city of Douala, based on hydrological
and hydraulic modelling; (iv) improve the integration and uptake of resilience
planning practices and risk considerations into urban planning processes and
into the design and implementation of ongoing and future infrastructure
investments in Douala.
