The
objective of this project is to strengthen the Government of Malawi’s technical
and institutional capacity for managing climate and disaster risks, by
supporting key policy reforms in the country. The objective will be achieved by
providing technical assistance for: (i) finalizing a Disaster Risk Management
(DRM) bill and operational guidelines, which will mandate a comprehensive DRM
approach; (ii) reviewing and strengthening the national urban policy by
integrating climate and disaster resilience considerations; (iii) advancing the
preparation of the National Meteorological policy that will pave the way for
improving climate and meteorological services in the country; and (iv)
developing a roadmap for safe and resilient school infrastructure in Malawi.
