The main objective is to enhance the municipal capacity of Gaza City (the largest city in Palestine) in the
field of urban planning by conducting key studies on scenarios for urban growth and
specific studies to address flooding and seacoast contamination. The grant will also seek to strengthen emergency response
coordination for the Municipality to improve the resilience of its urban systems against chronic stresses
and acute shocks to enable the city to provide its residents essential services, especially the poor and most vulnerable. The project will
address the challenges of outdated data by updating the existing database and GIS at the municipal level (Gaza city), specific studies on alternative urban growth scenarios, flooding and beach contamination as well as municipal
capacity to manage and withstand the impacts of shocks and stresses.
