The objective of this technical assistance (TA) is to support the Government of Ethiopia (GoE) in enhancing its capacities to better manage climate and disaster risks. The proposed assistance follows a request from the GoE to the World Bank dated October 6, 2020 for support in response to severe seasonal flooding and in long-term resilience building. The 2020 seasonal floods, which affected more than one million people and resulted in widespread damage and livelihood impacts across the country, made evident the deficiencies in the GoE’s capacities to manage such disasters.
