The objective is to develop, pilot, and operationally mainstream various analytical tools meant to measure in-country disaster resilience and prioritize options for managing disaster risk. The initiative adapts and applies new and emerging analytical approaches, survey methods, and data sources to the needs of World Bank (WB) projects and supports country teams with their real-world application. Building on the Lifelines: The Resilient Infrastructure Opportunity (World Bank, 2019) and Unbreakable: Building the Resilience of the Poor in the Face of Natural Disasters (World Bank, 2017) reports, topics addressed under this initiative include the vulnerability and resilience of households, firms, supply chains, infrastructure systems, and urban environments.
