The third annual South Asia Hydromet Forum (SAHF III) on November 15-18, 2021, will examine how pooling data, resources, and information can improve weather and climate services as the region adapts to climate change. The event is organized by the World Bank, Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System for Africa and Asia, and Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery, with support from the European Union, World Meteorological Organization, and UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

The event will provide an inside look at our new catalogue of NBS for urban resilience.

CRP hosted a 4-day multi-country workshop dedicated to the Europe & Central Asia (ECA) region. The workshop gathered representatives of 14 cities from Albania, North Macedonia, Turkey and Uzbekistan and engaged them on the early stages of the project cycle. Participants developed an understanding of capital project priorities that integrate resilience into the delivery of strategic urban infrastructure. 

On the occasion of the 2021 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, a discussion on how the World Bank Group can work with countries, local governments, and other partners to support cities in making affordable, green, and resilient housing available for all.  By Invitation only.

CRP presented its work on geospatial planning and the use of satellite data in a webinar hosted by the Lahore University of Management Sciences. Leveraging satellite data and transforming it in compelling interactive maps helps CRP to communicate effectively with decision-makers on their urban resilience challenges and how to best address them.   

Mark your calendars for the virtual launch event to collectively celebrate the monumental accomplishment and availability of the International Guidelines on Natural and Nature-Based Features for Flood Risk Management. The event will be live-streamed on YouTube – integrating a live host with recorded guest speakers, imagery from the document, a keynote address, and a live web-ex panel.

The development of the guidelines was initiated and led by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) as a part of its Engineering With Nature® (EWN) Initiative, with the support of GFDRR and the World Bank.

The DC Office of International French Business Delegation (MEDEF) invites you to participate in its next expert webinar on the sustainable infrastructure sector and disaster risk management, on Thursday, September 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (DC time). This session will feature Frederico PEDROSO, Disaster Risk Management Specialist, GFDRR, and his teams; and will be chaired by Gérard WOLF, president of the Sustainable Cities task force and president of BRICS Access.

The webinar will provide an overview of the current strategy and projects of the World Bank Group in the disaster risk management sector, as well as an overview of case studies, technological solutions, and field feedback from French companies in this domain. Finally, the event aims to discuss the opportunities and possible obstacles encountered in the field by actors of the French private sector.

We are delighted to invite you to our second meeting of the Disaster Mobility Data Network. This session will focus on epidemics and post-disaster displacement. In addition to the speaker’s presentations, we will discuss the upcoming network activities.

The network aims to provide a platform for data scientists and the disaster risk management community to connect and share best practices.
