The GFDRR’s Knowledge Center seeks to make disaster risk management (DRM) information more accessible to practitioners. GFDRR and the World Bank enjoy a large, diverse portfolio of DRM products and a vibrant community of experts. The Knowledge Center facilitates online access to useful information through fewer entry points and simplified metadata. It also aims to formalize the processes of sharing and maintaining DRM knowledge in standardized formats and templates. The Knowledge Center’s goals include:
- Efficient work processes—i.e., regular DRM staff and emergency responders have the resources and tools needed to deliver tested solutions rapidly and effectively
- A sense of community for all DRM staff
- Global leadership on DRM issue
GFDRR’s approach is to provide a common framework for knowledge sharing that enables the reuse of existing and developing DRM products. The goal is to simplify the knowledge structure so that practitioners can easily find products in a systematic way.
