Focusing on disasters from climate-related hazards, this session provides an overview of contemporary concepts and practices in disaster risk management and aims at establishing a common language and understanding among development practitioners on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation mainstreaming.

The Impact of Changing Climate on Disaster Risk

This session will go over questions on the impact of climate change on disaster risk, how much we can take from current climate models and if this will improve in the near future.  Other questions are:  Can observational trends tell us anymore? Do we understand some sectors better than others? What are the things Disaster Risk specialists need to be aware of and to monitor in the climate change field?
